All participants of the Diving Academy must have complete, signed and returned a diver agreement form before the start of the commencement of their course. The National Sports Campus Development Authority manages the National Aquatic Centre’s Diving Programme under the direction of a professional coaching team. The diving programme is split into two primary sections:

  • Learn to Dive Academy
  • Diving Training Squads

This page provides information on the Learn to Dive Academy

The Learn to Dive Programme is a series of structured courses running in 8 week blocks which provide a well-defined set of goals and for the learning of the sport. Participants will learn how to enter the water in a variety of head first and feet first styles as well as developing water confidence and coordination

New starter entry requirements:

  • Must be 5 years old or above
  • Must be confident swimming in deep water without hat or goggles

Levels explained

Level 1: Learn to dive Level 1 is the first stage of our Academy pathway. This course is designed for complete beginners, during each 30 minute session you will learn the fundamental skills of diving. Courses will be made fun and exciting and will cover basic progressions from poolside and low level diving boards.

Level 2 & 3:Learn to dive level 2 and 3 builds on the skills learnt in level 1 and gradually increase the difficulty of basic diving skills. Here you will develop forward facing dives and be introduced to diving backwards from the poolside and low level diving boards.

Level 4:Learn to dive level 4 develops the forward and backward dive groups on both poolside and the diving boards.

Payment and Class details:

  • Level 1 Diving Classes:

    - 30 minute long sessions
    - Costs €48.00 per 8 week academy block
     
  • Level 2-4 Diving Classes:

    - 45 minute long sessions
    - Cost €75.00 per 8 week academy block

Movement Assessment (Levels 1-4):

  • Participants are assessed during week 6 of every academy block
  • On completion of assessment, participants will receive a assessment slip indicating whether the participant will move up a level or stay at the same level.
    Only on satisfactory completion of the set skills to the pre-determined standard will participants be able to move up a level.
  • On receipt of the assessment slip, participants will have priority booking during week 7, for subsequent courses. If participants have not re-enrolled by the end of week 7 their space maybe offered to general sales.
