Diving Lessons ( Adults & Children )

Please note:

All participants of the Diving Academy must have complete, signed and returned a diver agreement form before the start of their lesson block. Participants will not be allowed access to dive in sessions without a completed diver agreement form. Diver agreement forms will be available in the sales office or from the Diving Academy team from the 10th of March. NAC Diving Adademy ‘Learn to Dive’ Programme (Levels 1- 4)

The NAC Diving Academy is run under the direction of an experienced professional diving coaching team. The Diving Academy has two primary sections, Learn to Dive and Training Squads. This page provides details of the ‘Learn to Dive’ programme covering academy levels 1-4. Please see reverese of this sheet for the full ‘Learn To Dive’ time table.

The Learn To Dive Programme is a series of structured classes running in 8 week blocks which provide a well-defined set of goals and for the learning of the sport based around 5 focus skills at every level, allowing progressive development. The ‘Learn To Dive Programme’ is carefully linked to the National Teaching Plan (NTP) for diving set out by Swim Ireland.

Levels explained (See ‘learn to dive structure’ document for full details):

Level 1 – (Entry Assessment class): Learn to dive Level 1 is the passport into NAC Diving Academy classes. During the one off level 1 class our coaching team will assess all new candidates that are unsure of their swimming level or have previous diving experience to ensure they start in the correct class level in the NAC Diving Academy.

Level 2 – (Beginner): Learn to dive level 2 develops understanding of the basic movements of diving, a focus on good posture and development of the head first entry.

Level 3 – (Intermediate): Learn to dive level 3 develops the foundation skills for the backwards dive and works on improving the quality of the basic skills learnt in level 2.

Level 4 – (Advanced) Learn to dive level 4 develops the forward and backward dive groups on both poolside and the diving boards.

New starter entry requirements:

  • Must be 5 years old or above
  • Must be NAC Swim Academy level 4/Swim Ireland Swimming level 6 or above (Anyone unsure of their swimming level or ability are required to attend a level 1 diving assessment class*)
  • Must be able to swim 50m in deep water without goggles
  • Must have read the diving academy general rules found in either the ‘Learn to Dive Structure’ booklet or ‘Training Squad Structure’ booklet.
  • Must have read, completed and signed a diver/athlete agreement form (No participant will be allowed in session without a completed diver agreement form)
  • Classes can be booked throught the NAC sales office on 016464300

*One off Level 1 diving assessment classes are held every Saturday  9.00 – 10.00am every week during academy term times. Level 1 assessment classess cost €8.00 per person and can be booked at the NAC Sales office on 016464300.

Payment and Class details:

  • Classes cost €75.00 per 8 week academy block payable at the NAC sales office
  • ‘Learn to Dive’ participants receive one x fourty five minute class per week

 Movement Assessment (Levels 2-4):

  • Participants are assessed during week 7 of every academy block
  • On completion of assessment, participants will receive a movement slip explaining if they will stay in the same class or move to the next academy level.
  • On receipt of the movment slip participants can rebook directly into the next block of learn to dive lessons. Participants will not be rebooked in unless the movement slip is produce. Participants are advised to rebook during week seven to ensure their place

Changing class days and times:

  • Once in Diving Academy sessions anyone wanting to move class time and date must complete a class movement request form and return it to the diving office. The diving team will contact you to confirm your new class time.

NAC Diving Academy Training Squads Programme

(Levels 5-8 including little stars and Talent Identification groups)

The NAC Diving Academy is run under the direction of an experienced professional diving coaching team. The Diving Academy has two primary sections, Learn to Dive and Training Squads. This page provides details of the ‘Training Squads’ programme covering academy levels 5-8, Little stars and Talent Identification groups. Please see reverese of this sheet for the full ‘Training Squads’ time table.

The squad structure follows on from the Learn to Dive Program. The commitments, expectations and standards required increases as progression is made through the structure. Each level of the squad structure is carefully linked to the National competition framework set out by Swim Ireland and follows the philosophies behind of Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD).

A dedicated team of qualified and experienced coaches will carry out your training and guide you through the squad structure. Regular monitoring of standards and abilities will be conducted utilising the Swim Ireland Diving Award Scheme, internal squad monitoring and competition performances.

Levels explained (See ‘Training Squad Structure’ document for full details):

Level 5 – Level 5 is the first level of the squad Training Squad structure designed to develop the strong foundation of skills required to move towards Novice level competitive diving. Level 5 divers work through a variety of challenging and fun skills in a relaxed training environment with regular assessment following the National teaching plan for diving stage 5 award.

Level 6 -  Supports the ‘Novice’ level (The first rung of the National competetive ladder), competetive, teen and recriational level diving. Novice divers work towards achieving dives in all dive group directions from all boards

Level 7 – Supports Age Group level(The second rung of the National competetive ladder) competetive and recriational level diving.

Level 8 – Supports Junior Elite,  Senior Elite and performance participation

Little Stars and Talent Identification groups – These groups support the Diving Academies internal talent management and development and are accessed by invite only.

Entry requirements:

  • Entry into training squads is by invite only
  • Must be 5 years old or above
  • Must be NAC Swim Academy level 4/Swim Ireland Swimming level 6 or above (Anyone unsure of their swimming level or ability are required to attend a level 1 diving assessment class – Please see level 1 assessment information)
  • Must be NAC Diving Academy level 4 or above
  • Must be able to swim 50m in deep water without goggles

Payment and class details:

  • All ‘Training Squad’ payments are via monthly direct debit paid across 12 months of the year, payable on the first of every month.
  • Payments for each squad level vary depending on the toal hours per week participants train.
    • €60.00 per month for 2+ hours per week
    • €85.00 per month for 6+ hours per week
    • €110.00 per month for 10+ hours per week
  • All direct debits require the first months payment up front, direct debit payments will start the first of the next month.

It is Academy policy that we cannot allow swapping of classes once they have commenced for any reasons
